Harnessing the Power of the Imaginal Body to Help Healing

“Man and his world are not at all what they seem to be.”
~Robert Masters

We are energy beings living in a physical body. The physical body is your structure, your flesh, and your bones. The imaginal body is not imaginary, but is one of subtle energy. You are able to connect with your imaginal body to promote healing and balance within yourself or help heal others.

We exist in an energy continuum - within and around us. Imaginal Body work takes this concept of energy and dives deeper into promoting healing for the physical body. You can use imaginal body principles to bring healing balance for yourself and to aid others in their healing journey.

Ancient Knowledge for Modern Healing

Imaginal Body work is not new information or thought, but came from the Egyptians' ancient wisdom and practices. The Egyptians believed in the way of the five bodies, which included the physical body, the imaginal body, the dream body, the magical body, and the spirit body. We can apply this ancient wisdom to explore new ways of healing the body, mind, and spirit.

Imaginal Body Defines the Butterfly

Webster’s dictionary defines imaginal as imaginary, but this is not accurate. Entomologists use imaginal to describe what happens inside the chrysalis when a caterpillar transforms into a butterfly. They suggest that tiny imaginal cells invade the caterpillar, which makes the butterfly transformation happen.

  •  The imaginal cells invade the caterpillar body, a battle ensues, and the caterpillar body turns to mush and becomes peaceful. Then, a miraculous reconstruction begins, and transformation occurs. This event is anything but imaginary! The outcome is the beautiful butterfly - recreated, transformed with a purpose moving forward.

Your Imaginal Body Dances with Your Physical Body

So, do you have something similar to imaginal cells waiting for a trigger, a conscious force to guide your transformation? Many scientists believe the answer is yes! The thought is that your imaginal cells maybe your subtle energy body that is waiting to be activated to bring about a transformation for you.

One belief is that your physical body contains the effects of stress, injury, and painful memories. Your imaginal body is innocent and open to possibility. The imaginal body has the blueprint of wholeness and balance. Once this body is activated, an energy transformation can occur, leading to tangible outcomes such as greater comfort or an increase in flexibility. Perhaps, the imaginal body is an agent for self-correction and even healing. The imaginal body may be an awakening of consciousness within.

What if you could find a way to cultivate your ability to feel the imaginal cells moving in tandem with your physical body? What effects and actual changes might occur?

Some scientists suggest that about 25% of the adult population has imaginal cells. However, imaginal cells can be attacked by old paradigms and ways of thinking. (Kim Polman, 2019). Imaginal cells wish to form connections with others and this leads to a collective that can create change and transformation which will allow for greater awareness and awakening of consciousness for more people.

Future Possibilities for Imaginal Body Healing

I believe this work is fascinating, and the possibilities are endless for our healthcare system. Imagine the paradigm shift with rehabilitation injuries using the imaginal body. You may be able to reverse or improve aging changes or chronic pain concerns by using your body’s subtle energy system. So many options to consider!

Your imaginal body is real. Consider exploring ways to work with your subtle energy field or imaginal body to promote healing and balance within yourself or help heal others. One example is provided in the testimony by Tisha Throne, who shared a quick exercise using Imaginal Body movement for easing her neck discomfort and gaining her greater flexibility.
